At BlackberryWhite Kennel, health and genetic integrity are the foundations of our breeding program. We raise Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Lagotto Romagnolos, and English Setters under the strict breeding standards of the Latvian Cynological Federation (LKF) and the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI).
Our Health Screening Protocols
All of our parent dogs undergo comprehensive health evaluations before they are approved for breeding. We screen for the following hereditary conditions to ensure our puppies are healthy, active, and standard-compliant:
Joint & Bone Health
Hip & Elbow Dysplasia (HD/ED): All parent dogs are radiographed to evaluate joint health. We only breed dogs with HD ratings of A or B (normal/excellent joints) and ED ratings of 0 (no signs of elbow dysplasia).
Eye Examinations
PRA & Hereditary Cataracts: Certified ophthalmologists conduct regular eye checkups to ensure our dogs are free from Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA-prcd) and other genetic eye diseases.
Cardiological Checks
Heart Evaluations: Standard cardiological examinations (with echocardiography where applicable) are performed regularly to guarantee parent dogs have clear, healthy hearts with no murmurs.
